His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow and All Russia, will be making a pastoral visit to London from 15th to 18thOctober, to mark the Diocese of Sourozh’s celebration of 300 years of the presence of Russian Orthodoxy in the British Isles. The history of the Russian parish in London began with the embassy church founded on the orders of Tsar Peter the First.
His Holiness will be honouring us by a visit to our Cathedral and attending the Vigil Service on Saturday 15th October. Although the Vigil will start at 5pm, his holiness will be met later at the start of Matins at the entrance by His Eminence Archbishop Mark and the other Cathedral clergy. At end of the Vigil His Holiness will leave the altar and greet the people before departing. His Holiness will preside at the Liturgy on Sunday at the Cathedral in Ennismore Gardens at which all the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Abroad in the United Kingdom have been invited to attend. Due to the considerable number of people expected to attend the services at Harvard Road and Ennismore Gardens it is advisable for clergy and people to arrive early.
Confessions will be heard after the vigil on Saturday evening. The Liturgy will be celebrated as usual on Sunday in the Cathedral in Harvard Road.
His Holiness, Patriarch Ireney of Serbia will also be visiting the United Kingdom at the same time as Patriarch Kyrill as a guest of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Vladika Mark and Fr Peter have been invited to concelebrate with him St Savva’s Serbian Church, Ladbroke Grove on morning of Saturday 15th October at 10am
