Thousands of people venerated the miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God, Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, during its visit to England and Ireland. Arriving from Copenhagen on Wednesday 4th June, the icon visited our Cathedral in Harvard Road, our parishes in Cardiff, Wallasey, Birkenhead, and in Colchester, the Moscow Patriarchate Cathedral in Ennismore Gardens, as well as the homes of sick and infirm parishioners.

The highlight of the brief visit was the opportunity to celebrate the feast of Pentecost-Trinity Sunday at Harvard Road in the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon, bringing a special resonance to the Kneeling prayers chanted at Vespers for the Day of the Holy Spirit. On the Day of the Holy Spirit, the Icon was taken to our parish in Stradbally, Ireland and thence to the Moscow Patriarchate Cathedral in Dublin, before its onward journey to Berlin.
