The very successful Russian Orthodox Christmas Fair Fundraiser took place this year during the afternoon of Sunday, 24th November, 2013 in the Church Hall attached to the Cathedral in Harvard Road. The Sisterhood of Saint Xenia, led by Head Sister Sophia Michailidou, organised the event that raised £1,300, part of which will be donated to charity, and the rest will go to support the Sisterhood and the parish. Some 200 people attended the Fair, consuming more than 700 blini and other Russian delicacies. All the cakes had been baked by parishioners who donated these items to the Fair. As for many years previously, musical entertainment was provided by the folk ensemble “Russian Tornado.” Such a large and successful event would not have been possible without the hard work of some 25 parishioners. The Sisterhood wishes to thank all who participated in the Fair – the organisers, the workers and, of course, those who gave financial
support. In organising the Christmas Fair, the Sisterhood is continuing a parish tradition that goes back more than fifty years.
