Embassy, Emigrants, and Englishmen

With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, NY, USA will publish in English on 1st November, 2014 a 755-page illustrated volume, entitled Embassy, Emigrants, and Englishmen. The book tells the three-hundred year history of our parish, beginning with the foundation of the Russian Orthodox community in London in 1713. It goes on to describe the life of the Russian Orthodox Church presence in London before, during and after the Russian Revolution, the founding of the parish in 1919, the life of the Russian exiles in London and continuing to the building of the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God and Holy Royal Martyrs in Harvard Road, London W4. A former parishioner, Protodeacon Christopher Birchall, who now serves at the Russian Orthodox Church of Saint Nicolas (ROCOR) in Vancouver, Canada, has written the book. His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin, Germany and Great Britain, has written the foreword.

Embassy, Emigrants, and Englishmen can be obtained from any bookshop, and from any online bookseller, from 1st November onwards and, of course, at the Cathedral bookshop in Harvard Road.
