Church Council
The duly appointed priest in charge of the Parish acts as the Chairman of the Parish Council and presides at all meetings of the Church Council. When and as necessary and with blessing of Diocesan Bishop, one of the other priests on the staff of the Parish may deputise.
The parish priest is responsible before the Diocesan Authorities as the direct head of the parish, and responsible for the proper organization of the Church and the parish.
The Parish priest is supported in the running of the Parish life by the assistant clergy, the Starosta, Churchwarden (Ktitor), Treasurer, Head Sister and Choir Director who are all dei facto members of the Church Council. The parishioners at the Annual General Meeting elect all other members of the Council
Members of the Church Council are elected at an Annual General Meeting of the parish. Every parishioner who regularly confesses, partakes of the communion, pays annual fees and is good standing in the parish may be elected a Church Council member.
In our parish, the annual fee for an individual is GBP 50 or GBP 200 per family. However, if a family or individual is unable to pay this sum in a single payment, with the agreement of the parish priest and Treasurer, the dues can be paid quarterly or monthly and the amount can be reduced at the discretion of the parish priest.
